Bulletproof Preparation
1. Surveying the Rough Opening
- The 3mm Rule: Diagonal variance must not exceed 3mm to ensure square operation.
- Surface Stability: Clean mortar debris; ensure a solid, flat load-bearing surface.
- Expansion Gap: Maintain a 15-20mm gap for polyurethane foam integration.
2. Fastener Specification
Standard: Use nylon expansion anchors or high-grade masonry screws. Avoid: Standard expansion bolts in hollow brick substrates.
PHASE 02
Precision Framing & Anchoring
1. Load-Bearing Support Block System
Position high-density polymer shims directly under the bottom corners and vertical mullions.

NEVER use wooden shims. Wood absorbs moisture, leads to rot, and causes thermal expansion that will warp your aluminum frames.
2. Drilling & Spacing Rules
- Distance from corners: 150mm - 200mm.
- Maximum interval between fasteners: 500mm.
- Minimum embedment: 40mm into solid masonry.
PHASE 03
Waterproofing & Drainage
1. Professional Foam Application
Mist the gap before application. Fill to 80% to allow for controlled expansion and dense cell structure.
2. Active Drainage System
The exterior sill must be pitched at a 5% slope away from the window to prevent water pooling at the gaskets.
PHASE 04
Final Calibration
The A4 Compression Test: A piece of paper should be difficult to pull out from a locked sash. If it slides out, adjust your multi-point locking cams immediately.

Can I install without a 15mm gap?
No. Aluminum expands and contracts. Without this gap filled with flexible foam, the frame will eventually buckle against the brickwork.
